BIOGRAPHY

18-11-1948 Born in Freiburg/Breisgau, Southern Germany.
1958 - 1961 Pretty bad school boy at the high school "College St.Blasien" (the "Black Forest"), Southern Germany.
1962 - 1963 I changed school and went to the high school college "Schulen Schloss Salem" near Lake Constance, Southern Germany, where my mother was my teacher for german (very hard times).
1964 -1967 In the city of Constance/Lake Constance: 3 years apprentice to be a typewriter and printer.
September, 1967 First trip with 400,- deutschmarks in my pocket hitchhiking from Freiburg/Germany to Darwin/Australia (Northern Territory). Arriving with 13 dollars on the 13.12.67… First job: Power Hill Station Darwin. After 5 months I went straight into the out backs to work as a truck driver in the Bauxite area of Nhullunbuy/Gove (NT). Driver's license made at the police station in Darwin (test took me only 10 minutes…).
1970 Worked 14 months at the "Sydney Morning Herald" newspaper. Then studying in Melbourne "Monash postgraduate Journalism Courses" (JMU). Especially at night, as a "Roving Reporter" with fake preliminary press card.
'till 1972 More trips around Australia, all New Zealand, India, Island of Bali and Thailand.
1973 Settled down on the Island of Formentera (Mediterranean Sea).
In winter visiting Germany – and all the girls I met last summer…
1972 - 1975 In the Winter months: As a street-musician (guitar and vocals) in the bars and streets of Düsseldorf/Germany.
1977 My discovering of super model Frauke Quast (15). First job with top fashion photographer Albert Watson: 28 pages in the "Vogue" Magazine. Later she became a favourite model of Helmut Newton.
since 1980 Archive Staff photographer for the agency GAMMA images in Paris.
1980 First edition of complete new style postcards from the Island Formentera.
August 1980 First nude model on the cover of "STERN" Magazine (German).
All winters 1980 - 1984 Five months in Mexico, one month in Sri Lanka (without any cameras, just for recreation, love, sun and new impressions!)
Summer '80 'till'84 Camera assistance and location manager for many photographers in Ibiza and Formentera, including Peter Lindbergh, Wolfgang Behnken (Art director of "STERN" Magazine), Gerd Vormwald, Patrice Calmettes.
Since 1983 First edition of complete new style postcards from Mallorca Island.
1983 First edition of complete new style postcards from IBIZA Island.
1984 - 1995 Big calendar production "HB-GIRLS" (1 Million issues worldwide). Every year produced for "Grey Advertising Agency" Düsseldorf (Germany).
March 1984 Started to live with my girlfriend Karoline on Mallorca Island.
1984 Got my pilot's license for "Ultra-Light-Gliders" (Survived two light crashes!). Air shootings for the famous architect from Mallorca, Don Pedro Otzup. (House of Claudia Schiffer etc.) – but he almost never paid me...
Since first of May 1986 Resident in Barcelona, very happy and content.
1988 First edition of postcards for Rimini/Italy. Only one edition made and paid by an Editorial. The next production were cheap made computer copies, directly from my originals to sell all around the Italian beaches of northern Italy…
Since 1988 First edition of complete new style postcards for Canary Islands.
May 1990 Four months Photo trip all around the Ex-"DDR" (East-Germany) to the Island of Rügen, Island of Hiddensee, Fischland/Darß, Usedom Island (Baltic Sea) and to the city of Dresden and Leipzig and Berlin etc.
Since May 1991 First edition of postcards made for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (East-Germany) and the city of Dresden.
1997 First edition of postcards made for Lisbon and the Portugal coastlines.
1997 Three trips with more than 5.000 miles all around CUBA island.
November, 1998 First edition of complete new style postcards for CUBA.
Since January 1, 2002 Nice little flat hired for all the year in Havana/Cuba.
Since January 2013 Second collection of postcards for Barcelona.
Since November 5/2013 Countless interviews and reports from all around these incredible story of my second cousin Cornelius Gurlitt and his "Century-Art-Treasure" 60 years hidden in his flat in Munich. He died 2014-05-06.
